Synopsis
The action takes place in the poorly maintained dressing room of the local Village Hall in Cropleigh, a small village situated somewhere in middle England. It is the first night of an amateur production by the local drama group, “Cropleigh Rep”. Their production, “Love on Trial” has been written and directed by club member Maurice Fanshaw who is recognised as being dedicated to his art, but also viewed as a figure of fun by some in the group. “Love on Trial”, is a light comedy set in a seaside hotel in the mid 1940’s where businessman, Bosworth Felling, has taken his secretary Fanny for an illicit weekend affair.
The time is around the late 1990’s.
